Summary of Position
Founded in 1901, ChildCareGroup’s (CCG) mission is to champion a strong early childhood system that
teaches children and parents, trains early childhood professionals, and assists families.
The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO),
ensuring alignment across senior leadership, advancing organizational priorities, and strengthening
internal collaboration. This role blends high-level strategy with hands-on execution, supporting the
CEO in managing cross-functional initiatives, leadership communications, and organizational
continuity. The Chief of Staff plays a critical role in helping execute key initiatives and projects for the
Senior Leadership Team.
This is an onsite role, hybrid at CCG discretion. Travel is required as needed.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, helping to prioritize initiatives, manage complex
projects and new initiatives, and advance organizational goals. - Act as an extension of the CEO by developing briefings, agendas, talking points, and
presentation materials for internal leadership and staff meetings, board engagements, and
external stakeholders. - Represent the organization at community meetings and external engagements, strengthening
relationships and advancing strategic initiatives. - Track, coordinate, and drive follow-through on CEO priorities, ensuring decisions are
communicated clearly and executed consistently across teams. - Advance organization-wide transition planning efforts to ensure continuity, stability, and
knowledge transfer during periods of change. - Facilitate strong collaboration and information flow among senior leaders, helping to break
down silos and align efforts across departments. - Support planning and follow-through on senior leadership meetings and cross-functional
initiatives. - Act as a connector between the CEO, leadership team, and staff, reinforcing organizational
culture and shared accountability and ensuring alignment between organizational strategy,
external messaging, and executive communications. - Provide strategic guidance on internal communications in partnership with the communications
team. - Partner with the CEO and Development team on donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation
activities. - Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership, chief of staff, strategy, or executive
support role, preferably in an education or human services nonprofit or in consulting. - Exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience working closely with executive leadership and boards.
- Ability to work with discretion, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive information.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across teams and functions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level correspondence,
briefings, and presentations. - Ability to interpret financial, program, and operational information and data and distill it for
leadership decision-making. - Strong problem-solving skills and comfort managing both abstract strategy and concrete
execution. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and virtual
collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams). - Comfortable using organizational systems to manage projects and data analytics tools to analyze
program effectiveness and communicate outcomes
