This is a full-time outpatient psychiatry role within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, providing direct psychiatric care to an underserved patient population in a structured, mission-driven environment. Practice Details
- Direct outpatient psychiatric care to assigned patients within TDCJ facilities
- Conduct psychiatric, physical, and neurological examinations
- Clinical supervision of psychiatric mid-level practitioners as assigned
- Participation in due process proceedings for voluntary admission and compelled psychoactive medication, as well as civil commitment proceedings for patients being released
- Emergency psychiatric call coverage is included as part of the role
Work Environment
- Position located within a correctional facility in Conroe, Texas
- Security clearance required before starting
- Structured institutional environment with established clinical and reporting processes
Candidate Requirements
- Current Texas State Board of Medical Examiners license to practice medicine
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
- Current DEA-controlled substances registration certification
- Pre-employment drug testing required
